Summer Writers' Retreat!
Relax and let your writing juices flow...
AUGUST 12-18, 2006
Take a week off from your usual grind and join us at The DaySpring Center,
just outside Ellenton, Florida, on the Manatee River. The setting is rural,
serene and private. Each participant will have a private room and we will
have a meeting room for our group activities.
Comment from the 2005 Retreat: "I

Enjoy tranquility in one of the air-conditioned comfortably furnished cabins.
Many have hardwood floors, large stone fireplaces, and screened porches.

Creative Movement sessions with Ann Kingsbury, movement expert (NIA, Dancemeditation, Yoga) |
| 8 - 9 am | Breakfast |
| 9 -10 am | We will meet each morning for a discussion on some over-arching aspect of writing (plotting; character development; dialogue, etc.) |
| 10-12 am | I will do half-hour private sessions with participants. This is free time for everyone else, who can take to their rooms or somewhere on the grounds to write and/or enjoy nature |
| 12:00- l:00 pm | Lunch (Optional: those who prefer to write straight through may do a take-out type lunch) |
| 1:00-4:00 pm | Free time (for writing , canoeing, hiking, swimming, socializing or napping) |
| 4:00 - 5:30 pm | Group gathers for a critique of members' works*; discussion of any writing problems that have developed that day. Note: Works you wished critiqued must be submitted by July 1, 2006 |
| 6:00 pm | Evening meal |
| 7:00 pm | Free time for writing and/or socializing -- or unwinding in the pool or hot tub |
This promises to be a refreshing, renewing, inspiring week for each of us....
nothing to do but write and enjoy the cool beauty of rural Florida,
in the company of fellow writers.
I hope you'll all be able to join us. Please let me know by May 1st
if you plan to be with us. (I'll have to receive your payment by May 1st to
guarantee space availability)
Participation is limited. I have reserved space for 15 participants. Each participant will have a private room. Meals and snacks are included.

Meals are served buffet style in Curry Hall. DaySpring has a well-deserved
reputation for excellent food. Special diets are gladly accommodated with
advanced notice.

One of the best ways to observe Florida's marine environment is from the seat of a canoe. Guests can paddle their way beside the Mangroves on the river's edge or into estuaries teaming with bird life. |


| Six lovely cottages to choose from. Each has four rooms with two beds
and a private bathroom. One bathroom in each cottage has been designed to
be handicapped accessible. Each cottage has a spacious comfortably-furnished
common room ideal for reading and quiet conversation or for small group meetings. |
